Bada Sringara Besha
The Bada Sringara Besha is one of the most beautiful and important daily adornments of Lord Jagannath in the Jagannath Temple. It is the last and most decorative Besha of the day, performed at night before the deities go to rest.
When the Bada Sringara Besha Observed?
Bada Sringara Besha is observed late at night after the Bada Sringara Dhupa (night food offering). It is the final ritual of the daily worship schedule in the temple. Devotional songs such as Gita Govinda are sung during this time.
About Bada Sringara Besha :
During this Besha, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra are decorated with great care and devotion. The deities are dressed in beautiful silk clothes and ornaments. Various fragrant flowers such as jasmine, champa, and tuberose are used to decorate them.
Garlands of flowers are arranged artistically on the bodies of the deities. Special floral ornaments known as “Tahia,” “Chandrika,” and “Karapallava” are also used. The fragrance of flowers spreads throughout the sanctum, creating a very divine atmosphere.
